82574L and 82579LM Link Aggregation

$

I have a very noob question on trying to get these two NIC's to team together for link aggregation.

I just set up a Synology DS713+ NAS at home and purchased a Cisco SG 200-08 switch in order to use the link aggregation that the

Synology unit offers. When I try to Team these two connections on my HP Z820 computer I get an error message saying that "The devices included in this team do not support the team type" I can select Adaptive Load Balancing but not the IEEE 802.3ad Dynamic Link Aggregation.

I was hoping to benefit from being able to use both of these ethernet ports for better transfer speeds with my NAS.

Can anyone point out what I might be doing wrong?

If it is not possible to LAG these two together, what do I need to do? Buy a third card and link two different ethernet ports together?

If this is the case which one of my existing NIC's do I use with the new one?

Which new one would you recommend?

Thanks for any input.

W2600CR Bios Issue (Fans runs @ Max)

We purchased 8 W2600CR servers around end of November 2014.

We built and config'd 5 of them then updated bios to make fans runs quite all work well.

Now over the last week we have completed the last three but this time when we updated the bios (using the same files and usb as the first five) the case & psu fans run at max.

Now we have cross referenced the bios settings between them and set bios to default on the two to no avail.

We are running on bios ver 02.01.0002 we have even tried the new 0003 with no change.

We have followed the "Server fans at full or loud" kb again no change.

We are at a lost what to try next.

Anyone have an idea what the issue is or could be any help greatly appreciated.

S2600CP P4308CMHEN Fan Noise

Halo to all,

I have an Intel Server P4308CMHEN with the S2600CP.

Board Information: Product Name : S2600CP | Serial Number: QSCP35000469 | Part/Model Number : E99552-510 | FRU File ID : FRU Ver 1.00

I recently updated the BIOS to the latest, 02.03.0003BMC6580, and the update was successful

This update package includes the following system software updates:

- System BIOS - 02.03.0003 - ME Firmware - 02.01.07.328 - BMC Firmware - 01.21.6580 - FRUSDR - 1.11

The actual readings from the BMC console now are:

BIOS ID :SE5C600.86B.02.03.0003.041920141333
BMC FW Rev :01.21.6580
Boot FW Rev :01.17
SDR Package Version :SDR Package 1.11
Mgmt Engine (ME) FW Rev :02.01.07.328

After the update the FANs are operating in full speed, ~8200RPM, and the server is extremely noisy. At the Sensor Readings of the BMC console it reports:

BMC FW Healthsensor has failed and may not be providing a valid readingWarning0x0010

I have attached the DebugLogs and the SELLOG

What I have done already:

Shutdown the server, remove both power cords for 30 seconds and the power on

Load BIOS defaults

Updated again the FRUSDR using the "FRUSDR.nsh" command and it was successful

Updated the BIOS again, successful

Please for your suggestions!

INTEL P4308RPLSHDR SERVER SYSTEM WITH RSBL080

I have 2 servers like this.  Issue with both is that hotspares fail on patrol reads.  I narrowed it down to the fact they go from power transition to unconfigured bad state when patrol read starts.  I have "worked around it" by configuring controller not to put hotspares in low power state.

On a side note I have another SERVER CHASSIS P4308XXMHGC with ITL S2400SC2 SERVER MB and RSBL040 that has no problem spinning up hotspares for patrol reads.

All 3 server use the same controller firmware and using the same model/size hard drives and operating systems.  My best guess is there may be an issue with the P4308RPLSHDR backplane firmware, but I see no update to it.

X5460 vs E5450

Hi Folks,

On paper I can see the differenc between the X5460 and E5450 (namely 120W vs 80W and 3.16Ghz vs 3.00Ghz).

But can someone help with information like the following:

Are there any major differences between the chips in their spec and expected compute power?

Does anyone have benchmarks to compare the two?

Thanks,

Gerald

Teaming NIC PRO 1000/MT in windows Server 2008 R2

The Intel PRO 1000/MT has (today ?) no "full support" in Windows Server 2008 R2 ; that is : each NIC est recognized by OS and functionnal, but we can't built a team, because  Intel Advanced Network Software (ANS) is not available.

More, on my DELL PowerEdge 2850 (with 4 PRO 1000/MT), no PCI-express slot, then i can't install more recent NIC which has full support (like 1000/PT).

A server hardware with server software and with server NICs but no server teaming functionality ?

Does it means I have to replace all my Intel NIC with Broadcom NIC which has teaming support in 2008 R2 ?

Thanks for your help

Hi,

I need to convert a couple of RAD5 LUNS to RAID 10. We have not got the Intel® Modular Server Storage Management Pack. However I believe that I can use this for 30 days in evaluation. Are there any limitations with it in evaluation.

Also does anyone know if its possible to re-size a LUN so that it is smaller?

Thanks,

S3420GP and RAM

Hello,

I have a server mothebord S3420GP with 6 memory slots.

Now, I have 2 slots filled with these: 2x KINGSTON 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 ECC CL9 DIMM with Thermal Sensor.

Is possible to use another 4 these RAMs? So I would have 24 GB RAM with 6 x 4 GB. Is this combination possible?

Or is possible to use 4 x KINGSTON 8GB DDR3 1333MHz CL9 ECC Dual Rank BOX.

So total memory size will be 32 GB RAM.

Thanks for any answers.

S1200BTS: RAID Option ROM does not show on boot

$

Hi all,

i bought a machine with an Intel Server Board S1200BTS and I want to configure a disk array using the chipset's features. I selected "RAID" as SATA mode and "RST" as RAID mode in the mass storage controller section of the BIOS setup. But how do i create the RAID array? No option ROM is displayed on boot, i tried hitting Ctrl+E or Ctrl+I anyway but nothing happens. Additionally, no SATA device is available for boot (i suppose because they are now handled by the RAID BIOS that i cannot access). Changing the RAID option to ESRT does not change this behaviour (just tried this for debugging purposes). I also checked the BIOS boot configuration because i think that a seperate boot option should be visible there but it only shows the two NICs and the EFI shell option. I updated the BIOS to the latest version 41 but that did not resolve the problem. Does anyone have a clue what i might be doing wrong here? Quiet boot is disabled by the way. Clearing the CMOS did not help either. If i change the controller mode back to AHCI my disks show up and i can boot from a single disk but this is not what i intend to do.

Any help is appreciated because the system was ordered without on-site support and therefore i would have to return it to the dealer (he insists that this feature should be available out of the box).

RAID Driver for Intel S3000AH motherboard Windows Server 2008 R2

Support for this motherboard has ended.  This board had been purchased 02/01/2007.  However, with the release of Windows Server 2008 R2, it's like breathing new life into a server that still has adequate speed.  Currently I have an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor in the system with still room to grow.

Sadly, there is no W2K8 R2 driver for the Intel Embedded RAID, Intel® ICH7R I/O Controller.

Hey INTEL!!!  Can you make a driver please???  I purchased your board with the consideration that I could later upgrade it keeping up with technology.  Thanks in advance.

As for other readers, if you know of a 3rd party driver source, please point me in the right direction.

Using ipmitool, I accidentally deleted the "FRU Product Serial Number" field from the FRU on my Intel S2600 server. To fix this, I followed the instructions in http://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/sb/updating_frusdr_on_epsd_server.pdf (section 2.6) and attempted to update the SDR and FRU. RMM4 Lite only 100Mbit/s?

Hi,

I have a S1200BTL + RMM 4 Lite running ESXi 5.5 (Free). As I plug in the RMM4 Lite module, the 82574L NIC (NIC 1) is doing only 100Mbit/s (OS). When I pull out the RMM 4 Lite, then it goes up to 1000Mbit/s. Is this behavior normal? I thought the remote console/KVM will do 100Mbit/s, but the OS will still get 1000Mbit/s?!

Thanks

We have a S5000PAL Mainboard with a SROMBSAS18E RAID Controller.

A SAS-Midplane for SR2500 (with 6 Disks)

The RAID Controller is broken, but I have a spare HW Raid Controller Adaptec 6805E.

Can I replace the SROMBSAS18E RAID Controller with this one?

And how to connect the HW Raid Controller Adaptec 6805E (could not find any docu)

raw ipmi command to retrieve NIC 1 MAC address on S2600GZ

$

Hi there,

what is the right approach to retrieve the NIC 1 MAC address (for OS usage) via IPMI?

NOTE: I am assuming the system is powered off and that a DHCP server assigned an IP address to the BMC LAN channel 1.

The S2600GZ technical product specification section 6.10.3.2.3 highlights the convention used to assign MAC address so conceptually one could calculate it from the BMC LAN channel 1 MAC address (by subtracting 4) but that seems brittle so I am looking for the (raw) IPMI command to provide that info directly!?

Other vendors implemented vendor-specific IPMI commands but I can't seem to find the doc that would cover an S2600GZ board..

Thanks & cheerio, Harry.

Hell, switch in our Intel modular server mysys25 started failing. All servers lost connectivity and we have to pull switch out and put it back in everytime. We ordered new switch, but when we put it in the chasis the foloving error appears: Fault Indication: ESM 2 Fault LED On . We tried to connect to new switch via Serial port, but that doesnt work either. Any suggestions? The firmware on the blade is the latest. I assume the problem is in mismatching firmware, but how to update firmware on the switch if I cant access it? Thanks for your help.

they have no effect even many reboot ... while my settings in win 7 were done without anything in the registry except using tcpoptimizer from speed guide

what should i do ?

i also be glad if someone gives a link to a wiki about the registry keys for tcip and the different windows releases, even something [improbable] knowing all the keys of all the windows...
