s1200spl fan spin to slow
How do I update the BIOS on a very old S2600CP motherboard?
Hi,
I've just been given an ancient, refurbished S2600CP2J motherboard complete with CPUs and RAM and would like to get it fully working again.
The obvious first step is to update the BIOS but the oldest EFI update package available (01.02.003) states that I need to have at least version 01.01.1002 before starting or "the update process may render the system not operatable!"
According to the BIOS screen, my system is currently SE5C600.86B.99.99.x034, build date 08/23/2011.
As I have no wish to kill the system before I get started, is there any way of upgrading it to 01.01.1002 as a minimum?
Thanks.
How to update main board BIOS S5000PSLSATAR
I would like to update the BIOS on my S5000PSLSATAR in hopes to fix my fan speed problem. My current AMI bios is Aptio version 1.20.1093 and the bios listed in setup is S5000.86B.10.60.0091
I have download the 'Firmware Update Package for DOS, Version:101;68;48 dated 12/27/2010 I have read through the include BIOS101.txt file and I am not 100% sure my system meets the requirements. I have never tried to update the firmware on any of my Intel servers so I am hoping to avoid messing up my working server.
Can someone confirm this is the correct package for my mother board and if not, suggest or point out the correct one. It currently does not have any OS installed but I would like to convert to a backup server.
This is the zip file I download from Intel: S5000PSL_DOS_update_BIOS101_BMC68_FRUSDR48.zip
S2600STB LAN Ports
There are 3 LAN ports on this server board as baseboard LAN 1, baseboard LAN2 and Dedicated BMC LAN. In the BIOS Setup Utility if you go to Server Management->BMC LAN Configuration you can see Baseboard Lan and Dedicated Management Lan configurations. But there is only one Baseboard LAN referenced. Why is the Baseboard LAN port 2 missing from ths screen? Is there documentation that describes this? In the BIOS Setup Utility doc the Baseboard LAN and Dedicated Management LAN are shown. In Intel Server Board S2600ST Product Family Technical Product Specification ports 1 and 2 are referenced in the BIOS Setup Utility (6.4.1) but I couldn't find this myself in the BIOS Setup Utility.
Some of my users have concluded that this means Port 1 and Port 2 are shared when in actuality Port 1 is shared with the BMC and Port 2 is shared with the BMC, effectively giving 3 LAN ports with access to the BMC and 2 available to the OS.
Thanks for any assistance.

Random fan spin-up on R1304SPOSHBNR
I have recently purchased three S1200SPOR servers, and they all three are having the same issue: at random intervals, the fans will spin up to max for just a second or two before settling back down. These intervals can be anywhere from a few minutes to an hour, and they do not correlate with server load.
I have upgraded the firmware to S1200SP.86B.03.01.0026.092720170729, check for thermal trips, and examined the SEL, but they didn't help. However, in watching the IPMI sensors, I did notice one correlation: the times when the fans spin up seem to correspond to the sensors being unable to read "P1 Therm Margin". My conclusion was that the system is occasionally unable to read the power supply temperature, so it spins up the fans "just in case", but on the next reading it reads the temperature correctly and so returns the fans to normal.
I checked the sensor wire and it is secure. (Fiddling with it doesn't trigger the fan response either.) I might conclude a hardware fault, but this is happening on all three systems, each of which were purchased at different times over the last few months.
I also found this thread: R1304SPOSHBNR 1U chassis fans randomly spin up to maximum for a few seconds and then go back to normal. but the information isn't any help since the SEL doesn't report any errors, the problem is intermittent, I don't have a RAID controller in them, and the standard checks didn't reveal anything promising.
If anyone has any ideas on where to go next, I would appreciate the input.
Thanks!

S5000PSL (S5000SL) / Fan´s running at 100% / Status LED Amber / Sys-Fan LED Amber
Hello,
I have the current problem:
I have an INTEL S5000PSL installed with 16GB RAM (4x4) and two Xeon 51xx. The MoBo is installed in an Intel Chassis SC5400 (I don´t know the exactly model and don´t know how to identify)
The Problem is that all Fans running at 100% all the time after the newest BIOS UPDATE (Download Firmware Update Package for DOS ). The settings in Bios were loaded to optimzied settings (F9) and the Fanspeed to Acoustic, 0-300.
I had also resetted the CMOS and the BMC jumper but no solution....
I had recognized that the SYSTEM_STATUS_LED is currently blinking orange/amber all the time also when WIN SERVER 2012 R2 is running.
The SYS_FAN_LED (left back near by RAM) is also lightning in amber but I have installed an 4-PIN PWM Fan....
I don´t know what I can do else. Do you have any information how I can get the fan´s silent/running in Idle mode?
Thanks in advance

S3420GP and RAM
Hello,
I have a server mothebord S3420GP with 6 memory slots.
Now, I have 2 slots filled with these: 2x KINGSTON 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 ECC CL9 DIMM with Thermal Sensor.
Is possible to use another 4 these RAMs? So I would have 24 GB RAM with 6 x 4 GB. Is this combination possible?
Or is possible to use 4 x KINGSTON 8GB DDR3 1333MHz CL9 ECC Dual Rank BOX.
So total memory size will be 32 GB RAM.
Thanks for any answers.
