S3420GP and RAM

$

Hello,

I have a server mothebord S3420GP with 6 memory slots.

Now, I have 2 slots filled with these: 2x KINGSTON 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 ECC CL9 DIMM with Thermal Sensor.

Is possible to use another 4 these RAMs? So I would have 24 GB RAM with 6 x 4 GB. Is this combination possible?

Or is possible to use 4 x KINGSTON 8GB DDR3 1333MHz CL9 ECC Dual Rank BOX.

So total memory size will be 32 GB RAM.

Thanks for any answers.

I had created a operating software from bootable usb device but I am getting this error: "Initializing and Establishing Link"  . I am using a SR1550AL server and I thing I should disable network from bios but couldnt find disable option any help about it?

would E5-2696v2 work on motherboard S2600CP?

Hello,

I went accross 2x E5-2696v2 processors and tried to use them in one of our work stations based on S2600CP or S2600CP4 motherboards. Unfortunately neither of the computers worked with those CPU's. Both of the computers worked fine with 2690 v1 and 2667 v2 though. So my question is: should the two platforms work with E5-2696v2 processors?

more specific information about platforms:

Chipset: Intel C602 rev. 06

Mainboard Model: S2600CP (0x000001AE - 0x005368B0)

     revision: E99552-510

     serial: QSCP34300402

BIOS: SE5C600.86B.02.02.0002.122320131210 dated at 12/23/2013

where minimum required bios is ver. 02.01.0002 from 09/07/2013

the list of compatible processors is: http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/sb/CS-033241.htm

where 2696v2 does no appear.

looking forward your help.

Hi

Hoping for some help to regain the psu reduncy on our P4208CP4MGHC system.

Everything is original and untampered.

During bios updates last night using OFU I noticed these messages:

After succesful completion of the flash and reboot we have this in the event log:

In the BMC web console server health I see this:

Pwr Unit Redundreports redundancy has been lost reports redundancy has been lost, but the unit is still functioning with the minimum amount of resources needed for normal operationWarning0x000A

-------------------------------------------------------------

Is it something in relation to running the updates via OFU and the message stated immediately after starting the update sequece?:

"SDR Auto-Configuration is not supported on this platform"

Would rerunning the update package in EFI help the recognition of the psu´s?

Please if anyone has suggestions on how to work this out chip in.

S1200BTL chassis fan running full speed

Hello,

I have an S1200BTL motherboard and an P4303xxsfcnna chassis.  I've used Intel Deployment Assistant to update BIOS, BMC, FRU, etc.  The chassis fans are still running at full speed.  The BIOS only has an option to change to altitude, but the fan speed is set to auto and cannot be configured.

Any reason why the fans would be running full speed on both of my systems?

Thanks

Intel adapter teaming issue

So I went to configure adapter teaming and had nothing but problems.  The wizard would start the process, create the Intel Advanced Network Services Virtual Adapter, then hang and not complete any other parts of the process.  I found out that I was using the wrong version of the software for my adapters (which are Pro/1000 MT Dual Port), installed an older version, and all was good to go... except for the 4 Virtual adapters that were created previously by failed attempts of the wizard.  How do I remove these unused virtual adapters from the server?  Simply trying to uninstall them via the device manager doesn't work.  Neither did removing the teaming software, rebooting the server, or simply trying to delete the network connection.

It says system degraded and all the hard disk lights on the front are red. How can I locate which disk failed. I have a little bit unix experience. I mainly use windows. Since it is degraded, I should be able to recover the files or copy of them if I can bring the system back.

they have no effect even many reboot ... while my settings in win 7 were done without anything in the registry except using tcpoptimizer from speed guide

what should i do ?

i also be glad if someone gives a link to a wiki about the registry keys for tcip and the different windows releases, even something [improbable] knowing all the keys of all the windows...

JBOD2312S2SP Power Supply Issue?

I have a JBOD2312S2SP Intel Raid Enclosure (Intel® Storage Systems JBOD Family) at my house and woke up to screaming fan noises.  Warning light was blinking and the console showed this:

Note I only have one power supply so if the cable was removed not sure how it was still running.  Right after that warning received the below messages copied from the logs so the top one is the latest:

Last message until 6 minutes later I powered up a computer to remove in and shutdown the system.  Pulled the power plug, put it back in, powered everything up, and it's running right now without issue.  Thoughts?

Edit:  As a side note, the Intel Raid Web Console shows this drive cage with 2 power supplies.  Always did.  I only have one.  So not sure if that's just how many it can hold or if it's just not intelligent enough to detect the number of drives.

Thanks.

Steve

Unable to install Ubuntu 14.04 or higher, Centos 7 or higher on S2600cp server board system

I was trying to install Ubuntu 14.04LTS, 15.04 and CentOS 7, 7.1 on my S2600CP2 server board based system for several days. With Ubuntu 14.04 or higher, install procedure was terminated shortly after the Ubuntu logo showed up, showing the error message: “ i8042 no controller found”. With Centos 7 or higher, after choosing “install Centos 7”, same error showed and the computer restarted.

I learned later this error has something to do with PS/2 mouse or keyboard. In the bios setup, set “Port 60/64 Emulation” to be Disabled, all went well until the installation setup options for both Ubuntu 14.04 and Centos 7, but usb keyboard and mouse are disabled, I can’t choose an option or type in anything. Then have to reboot use the power button.

Please help me with this, there must be a way to solve this problem. Thanks in advance.

Intel Deployment Assistant on USB - unable to access boot device?

Hi I have an old S5000PSL server. Am trying to use Intel Deployment Assistant (most recent version 014). Got the ISO image and transferred to USB as a bootable image using Rufus. When I boot, I get the splash screen saying that the application is loading, then a text screen indicating that it's unable to access the boot device and whether it should restart. A restart of course yields the same result. Any thoughts or suggestions would be most appreciated.

raw ipmi command to retrieve NIC 1 MAC address on S2600GZ

$

Hi there,

what is the right approach to retrieve the NIC 1 MAC address (for OS usage) via IPMI?

NOTE: I am assuming the system is powered off and that a DHCP server assigned an IP address to the BMC LAN channel 1.

The S2600GZ technical product specification section 6.10.3.2.3 highlights the convention used to assign MAC address so conceptually one could calculate it from the BMC LAN channel 1 MAC address (by subtracting 4) but that seems brittle so I am looking for the (raw) IPMI command to provide that info directly!?

Other vendors implemented vendor-specific IPMI commands but I can't seem to find the doc that would cover an S2600GZ board..

Thanks & cheerio, Harry.
